11 DAYS!!!!

We are off to the zoo today. Should be nice. They have free zoo day on Monday's during the summer. This Monday they had 20,000 people there. I have no idea how that is even possible. It isn't a large zoo even. Just a note for me to remember NOT to go on MOnday's during teh summer! Today should be nice. It is a bit cloudy and hi of 71, so hopefully there won't be too many people.

I'm wondering when my life will no longer revolve around lack of sleep. I know it should happen someday. I have friends with older kids that seem to not live around their kids sleep schedules....it has just been so long since that was my reality that I forget that someday, I too will not constantly wonder about my next sleep.

We are rocking with the healthy eating! We get 30 pounds of freshly picked produce delivered every week with 2 dozen fresh free range eggs. It is very exciting. And so yummy. Last night I had my first experiment with rhubarb. I made a rhubard/strawberry bread pudding!!! WOWZERS!!! Robert says we can't afford to eat rhubarb every week....we'd both weigh 500 pounds in no time. It was DELICIOUS! Of course, topping it with fresh whipped raw cream didn't hurt it none either, lol! Can't wait for today's delivery to see what Iron Chef magic I get to do this week.

I'm tired. I was up from 1:30 to 4 last night with the kids tag team waking. Sigh. That is the third night with little to no sleep. I really hope I don't get a headache, but am not holding out much hope.

Random notes-

-Leah asked me this week to make her a turkey and hamster sandwich! LOL!!! I still can't convince her that ham is not hamster! She cracks me up!
-We are getting our summer colds out of the way before vacation!
-TWO WEEKS UNTIL TEXAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-Please pray for our pastor. He left church yesterday with seizures again.
-My husband rocks! He took us to Buca di Peppo for dinner last night and then ice cream. Then when we came home he took the kids all outside so I could veg on the computer!
-I think we are going to stay over night for the home school conference. Hannah will be with us, but the big kids will stay with the Lohnes. Should be fun...and I'm nervous.
-I need some more reading time. I have the weirdest assortment of reading material right now. I'm reading the bible in 90 days. Then I have, A Year of Eating Dangerously, Raising Whole Wheat Kids in a White Bread World, The Strong Willed Child and Canon XTI Owners Manual. I'd like to finish them all before we leave onour trip.
-We just signed up for weekly produce delivery from www.organicsatyourdoor.com. So excited. I've been ordering small orders the last few weeks and it is soo yummy. It is all local and picked within the last 48 hours before delivery. AWESOME! And of course organic or beyond. We will be getting 30 pounds of produce and 2 dozen fresh eggs, every week. Yummy Yummy. And that reminds me that I need to go get my greens started for dinner....which means I need to wash dishes first!

Friday Kid Update

Joshua- Had a much better week this week. We did a walk before breakfast in the morning and one after naps in the afternoon. I also tried to spend more one on one time with him each day. I don't know that either of those things helped much, but we all enjoyed them. He LOVES school. He has done 2/3 of a kindergarten workbook in 2 weeks. I'm really impressed that his writing is coming along as well as it is since I've always heard that boys writing usually develops later. He struggles writing S, it's a toughy. Now I need to decide whether to buy K or 1st curriculum for him for real school next year....

Leah- Leah's having a hard time right now too. She has started throwing temper tantrums for the first time ever and has been really whiney. I think she's not getting enough sleep. I"m very cranky when I'm tired, and honestly wish I could throw a tantrum some days lol, and since she's a mini-me then it makes since. She and Joshua have to share a room here and he keeps her awake then wakes her up early and she just can't hang. I've moved Joshua to the room downstairs for naps and that has helped some. We are considering moving him down full time, but we've never been on separate floors from our kids before and are a little iffy about that. Otherwise, she's her usual spunky self. Her favorite thing right now is to snuggle with Daddy. Every morning she tells me "When Daddy gets home, I'm going to snuggle with him all day and all night". That is also the first thing out of her mouth on Saturday morning.

Hannah- Is getting big big big. She scooting and rolling all over the place and does not appreciate the walls in this house always getting in her way! She's been a little more feisty, now that she knows this freedom of self movement. But she also is still happiest sitting in Mommies lap, thumb in her mouth playing with my hair.

What a glorious weekend. God warmed us up some....maybe just so I'd quit whining. The weather has been just beautiful.
Friday afternoon, I got a call from a girl in our raw milk group saying she had to work unexpectedly on Saturday and could we switch drives with her. This worked out perfect because we were scheduled to drive the weekend of CHEO, the Christian Homeschool Conference here. Robert, Hannah and I will be going down to Columbus for it and maybe even leaving the big kids over night with our pastor's family. We haven't decided yet.
So, Saturday we got up and headed back to Amish country. It is just so beautiful down there. I didn't get any pics really this time. I really wanted to get a picture of them plowing with the teams of horses but most of the plowing is done. I really am careful of what pictures I shoot down there. I want to respect their beliefs about no photos, although most of them are ok with photos from the back. We got to the Stutzman's farm while they were having lunch. So, we just hung out. The kids played on their big swing, I'll have to snap a picture of it one day. Ada said that her kids could hardly finish their lunch knowing that their were kids outside to come play with, lol. We hung around on the farm for a little while. Helped feed their calves and new kittens. Robert and the kids got to see the baby chicks and turkeys in the hot house. We really enjoy our time there adn with their family. We brought them a jar of pickled okra. They had never heard of okra and it isn't the easiest thing to describe to someone....as I learned when I was in Australia. After about an hour on the farm, we headed to Mrs Yoder's Kitchen for lunch...always a treat!! It was a nice family day. We got home and Robert and his helpers worked on the water softener that's been struggling lately. Hopefully it is fixed now...my hair is ratty with hard water!

Today was church. Our pastor had a seizure this morning, please pray for his recovery. He says they are very painful. His daughter told me he won't remember anything from today at all when he recovers.

This week we are trying some new things. Joshua desperately needs to burn more energy, as he's getting into more and more trouble lately. So, I'm going to try and do a morning walk around the block while our oatmeal cools and before hannah's nap. I also get mother's helpers starting this week!!!

The summer gets busy from here on out...at least the weekends. Next weekend, we will be going to paint on my friend Bonnie's house again. Trying to get that done before her baby arrives. The next weekend, Robert has a golf tournament with work...should be interesting since he hasn't swung a club in a few years now. The next weekend is CHEO and then the next monday the kids and I fly to TEXAS!!!!!

Looking forward to a great weekend here. We don't really have any set plans but we do have things that need to get done...like dress shopping for a certain little wedding coming up.

Our heater has been on every night this week. Really, this is hard core yankee weather...this southern girl is not doing well with it. We bought the kids a pool at Target. It has leaks and I"m returning it. I don't even know if it is worth buying another one. It is never hot enough for the kids to play in water without blue lips.

Maybe we'll hit the zoo tomorrow, although the first weekend of school being out might be ugly!

I'm struggling with contentment right now. I know there are lots of factors at work, but because I know them doesn't seem to make it better.

I know that the weather has alot to do with it. I'm sitting in a sweatshirt right now on June 2. Two nights ago we had to turn the heater on. I haven't been warm in months and months. I still feel trapped in this house, although I'm not as trapped as I was for six months over the winter. I can't just jump out of bed throw on some clothes and take off to the park with the kids. I don't know hwat clothes to put on them becasue I don't know how cold it is outside...in JUNE. You should not have to layer in JUNE.

I know that us not having friends has alot to do with it. We have twoish friends, really. Our next door neighbors whose youngest is 16 and the only one at home. Our pastors family, the Lohnes, whose youngest is 12 and all the kids are in school or busy. It's not like I can call them up and say, hey want to just blow life off today and go hang out and let the kids run wild. Or just let the kids run wild in the back yard and chill with a coffee looking all yucky and gross and not worried about it because we are such good friends that we don't care.

I know our upcoming trip has alot to do with it. I'm already sad that I'm not going to really get to hang out with my friends as much as I want while I am there. And that I"m going to have to leave to come back.

I know that our house still not selling has alot to do with it. I just haven't settled because I just don't know how long we will live in this house. When we can buy a house, I can at least start learning some local spots that can be ours but I don't know when or exactly where those will be. I'm just still really unsettled here.

I know that worrying about the government coming after me for almost every one of our parenting practices has alot to do with it. I'm just not comfortable with these liberal officials here that think they should have more say over my children than me and that would have no problem coming after me over issues they should have no say in. I want freedom back, not fear.

I know that I am probably hormonal and that has alot to do with it. But that doesn't make it any better either.

I know all of these things. I also know that God has me exactly where he wants me and that he is doing a good work in me. And I know that I am grateful for that. I wonder if this will ever feel like home. I don't know if I want it too. But we are here for the long haul. Robert has been blessed with a great job and a great growth environment in a great company. This is where we are supposed to be, I just wish it felt like it for me.

Hannah is starting to scooch/army crawl kind of. Much better than rolling everywhere because she won't be banging her head on everything any more! Finally mobility! AHHHHHH, she's mobile!

Joshua just checked to make sure he gets to see Laura when we fly to Texas.... Shona, when are ya'll in Ireland this year?

I had a date with Richard Simmons this morning. 80's Blast Off BABY!!!! YEA! It was fun. And, as I suspected, I laughed alot, but it was also a pretty ok workout. Of course, with the 80's music and absolutely fabulous dance moves...well, I was right back in high school drill team ya'll! Because, I am Richard's best friend...did you know that? And I am just FABULOUS and soooo worth it! ROFL!!!!!!!! How did everyone not know that he is gay??? REALLY? I mean, look at the guys in his video, HELLO! Still, I enjoyed every rediculous minute of it and had a little workout/dance party too.

Joshua can roll his tongue. Pretty cool huh. Neither Robert or I can, aren't genetics fascinating!!

Friday Kid Update

I need to be more diligent in kiddos updates, so I will try to do this every Friday.

Joshua- He's so articulate and cracks us up. He has never met a stranger. His most recent "thing" is to go up and say hi to someone new, almost always an adult. Conversation goes something like this.
J- Hi, what's your name?
Stranger- Name, what's your name?
J- My name is Joshua and that's Leah and Hannah. And her name is Christi, but we call her Mommy. And his name is Robert but we call him Daddy, actually.

It is the same conversation every time. It makes me laugh, every time!!! The actually is what really makes it funny.

Leah- Is a big girl. She is potty trained now. Hardly even wakes in the morning wet any more. She keeps up with Joshua, no problem. She LOVES hats, purple, pink and dirt. Girl would live outside in the dirt, if we'd let her!

Hannah- Has her two bottom teeth in. Is rolling around every where. Not crawling or scooting at all but rolls or spins to what she needs. She is sitting up great and can't wait to meet Texas. ;-)

Thursday, May 28, 2009

Wish me luck. After quitting all exercise because of my headaches for about three months now, I think...I"ll have to go back and check my blog to make sure...anyway, today I get back on the wagon. I've got Richard Simmon's 80's Blast Off coming in the mail thanks to good ole Netflix. I should lose pounds just from laughing if nothing else. I'll of course come back and rate the workout. I really hope I don't get a headache!

In other news, Robert finally scheduled our cable to be turned off! I was ready in November, but he's been working 2 full time jobs and just hasn't had the extra 5 minutes. Anyway, the guy came on Tues and took the box. He said he didn't have the trap he needed to block the video feed so he'd be back to do that. He hasn't come back. We still have cable, except I think it is free now. Not sure how I feel about this. I did tell Joshua that cable is gone and he even helped me disconnect the box, so I don't have to answer the "can we watch some kid tv" question a bazillion times a day any more. That's nice! This could be the best of all worlds, lol.

Not Crushed Any More

Ok, I'm better now. It was just some memories written down. Oh well. I've lost more in a fire before. I guess God has just meant for me to pay attention to today and not worry about yesterday. And so I do. I mean, after all, I have an extremely blessed today. My husband is awesome! Really, spoils me like crazy, even though I'm a big ole brat. My kids love me even though I'm not the greatest Mommy of all time, I know because they tell me that they love me every day. My baby is just about the easiest baby on the planet, I know this too because our church friends tell me all the time, lol. I have a comfortable house to live in, lost of healthy food to eat, oils to keep me healthy and in 4 weeks I get to go home to Texas!!! My life is really stinkin good! Thank you to all of you that contacted me about losing my journal, just another reminder how good my life is, I have lots of people that love me enough to read my silly ramblings on the computer.

Yes, in 4 weeks, I will once again set foot on the wonderful soil that is Texas. Awww. I can't wait. The kids and I will be in W Texas for a couple of days and then grab Robert from the airport in Austin and head off to Houston. We will fry ourselves in the sun by the lake and pool and enjoy some yummy Mexican food! AND another awesome Seago wedding. It'll be a blast. Of course, Leah is quite sure we are going there to see fireworks for her birthday! lol!

We had a great weekend. Saturday we did some shopping and actually bought Mommy some clothes that fit. (Did I mention that I'm spoiled?) And ate some super yummy 5 Guys burgers and fries. Sunday was pretty low key. Church and then hanging out around the house, got some grocery shopping done. Yesterday we got some chores done around here and then went to the Memorial Day party at our pastor's house. It was fun. Robert even got to play some ball and he was so excited to get some exercise in. He really misses playing full court basketball every day and just hasn't found an exercise outlet here yet.

Ok, off to decide if it is too early to start packing for our trip, lol!

Crushed

I woke up in a great mood this morning. Got up did dishes and got breakfast. After I got Hannah down for a nap, I got online to eat breakfast, my usual routine. Then it all came crashing down. Most of you will find this very silly but some of you will understand.

I went to www.weddingchannel.com. This was the site I found when planning my wedding and after we got married I started a newlywed journal there. I documented our story and our life as a newlywed. I also made some life long friends there. I journaled thru our first years of marriage including our three year struggle to have a baby and then the birth of sweet Joshua. I journaled about our moving across country, leaving the workplace, our journey to healthier living and leaving pharmaceutical drugs behind. I don't scrap book or any other memory storing, I journal. I have since 2002 and have a great collection of stories and memories to share with my children in case I'm not here to share it with them. I should say I HAD. The WC has deleted everything. All of it gone. I'm so so so crushed. I have been thinking I needed to go over there and copy it onto our hard drive for months even years. I go and check on my journal regularly, like a little baby...making sure it is still there and ok. And now it's not. And I'm not ok. I'm very very sad.

Although we were back in the 30's again last night, it is warming up here. THis week is supposed to be gorgeous. I think we might hit 70 today and then sunny and 70's and maybe even 80 this week. YIPPEE!!! The kids and I might just set up a week long outdoors camp. Today we are off for a picnic and then exploring in the local metropark. The metroparks here have a green riding/running and then driving trail that goes thru the entire city. It is supposed to be lovely to drive. Maybe we will someday. All of the little parts I've seen are nice. One of the sections in our town has a little river and waterfall that you can fish at. Someday, we might go do that too.

Robert is making an offer to a guy for the Quality Manager position today!!! I really hope this guy gets on board and quick. It'll be nice to have my husband back to working just one full time job!

Sunday, May 17, 2009

We have a freeze warning tonight. Really, how do people live here?????? I guess I'll be able to answer that in a few years but still....UGH!

We bought our tickets for our trip to Texas last night! YEA!!! I CANNOT wait to be warm, maybe I'll even sweat some. And MEXICAN FOOD!!!!!!!! I love me some mexican food!

Last week was super busy for us, but this week is wide open right now. The weather is supposed to be nice this week, so hopefully we'll do some good nature studies and other fun stuff outside.

Friday, May 15, 2009

Two big things! Hopefully this weekend I can do a real update.

First, and the most exciting news in a long long time is that our friends Greg and Cara of went to Haiti this week and picked up their two sons, Justin and Peterson, and brought them HOME! If you haven't followed their journey, you should go over and read back thru it now. It is amazingly beuatiful. A wonderful story of God's blessings in good and bad! Praise God for His blessings. Thank you for the blessing of children.

Second, Hannah had her first tooth come thru yesterday!!!!!!! I'm so proud. Only took 8 months and 9 days. She's not near so clingy although I think she is close on at least one more, maybe more.

Sunday, May 10, 2009

What a truly blessed woman I am! I have had the most awesome weekend with the most amazing people....my husband and children.
Friday, Robert came home from work and asked what I wanted to do for dinner because it was the beginning of my weekend. So, we headed out for Applebees but then decided on Red Lobster instead. It was Robert and I's first time there and we were pretty impressed. It was pricey so we won't eat there much but it was all good stuff. I even had a daiquiri. We were cracking up because I hadn't had a drink in a long long long time and after about 4 sips, I was already going "whoo". It was fun.

Saturday, Robert and the kids got up got their stuff together and came up and surprised me in bed wiht my birthday card (musical of course, my kids love those cards) and gift. We headed out to Amish country with my new GPS. We made it to the farm to pick up milk about 11. It was fun because all the kids were outside working. Joshua and Leah played in their sandbox with their younger children and we got to visit with Arlie and Ada for awhile. I would love to get to be friends with them and learn more from them. Maybe over time we will. The kids had a blast. We left there and headed to Mrs Yoder's Kitchen. I love that place. I was in real trouble this time because they had my broasted chicken on the buffet. We all STUFFED ourselves. I think Joshua had 5 pieces of chicken, lol!!! I won't mention how many I had. From there, we head to Ashery's. It is a little grocery shop. I needed to stock up on more Amish jellies and they just happen to have ice cream too. So we all got some and sat outside and enjoyed it. I love how peaceful things are there. Time just moves slower in Amish country. We took back roads all the way back to Medina, a luxury we haven't had before without the GPS. We'd love to live out there but it is just too far from Robert's plant. So, we just enjoy the time we do get to spend there.
We made it home and got a little down time before heading out to dinner at Houlihan's. We had eaten there a few weeks ago and my salad was not good, so I wrote them and told them and got a gift card from them. Also, if you sign up for their club then you get a free entree on your birthday! SOOO, I of course ordered their $23 steak and shrimp entree....for free which made it super yummy. lol! We all had big yummy meals including home made ice cream and a free birthday dessert for me all for $14, ROFL!!!! Now that is a birthday treat! The kids were all tired and fussy and unsettled from the ice cream that afternoon, so Robert and I just had half our meals and headed home, stuffed and happy. We got the kids to bed and Robert and I snuggled up and watched Once, may current favorite movie. It is the first soundtrack that I've ever wanted to own.
This morning, Robert and the kids "surprised" me again in bed with my Mother's Day card. Then we all jumped into action to make it to church in time. Robert hurried us all along fast enough so that he could get me a treat of Starbuck's on the way to church. After church, we came home and ate our leftover's from last night. Then the big kids and I got some quick naps and then we all did some yard work together. After that we headed out once again to.....you guessed it, eat (lol). Robert was taking us to Longhorn Steak House, one of my faves.....why yes, I am a steak and potatoes girl. We drove up and the line was CRAZY. I already felt like a stuffed hog, so I suggested we just run over to a burger joint in the mall, in the same parking lot. Well......that was the best decision! We tried a place called Five Guys and it was one of the best burger's I've had in years. Hand made patties, nice and juice and greasy...yummy and homemade fries! It was awesome. Robert and I were sooo happy. We had a place in Magnolia we used to go to for a good greasy burger but it closed a few years ago and we havne't had a great one since....until tonight!! We all stuffed ourselves and were so happy. Then, because we just hadn't eaten to the point of total rediculous grossness this weekend yet, we headed to a local ice cream shoppe. Man, that was a GREAT decision too. Seriously, sooooo sooooo sooooo good! We are so happy to have found both of these little places.

And I am one miserably stuffed and grossly full, happy happy happy Momma!

Wednesday, May 6, 2009

Leah came in this morning and told me that to day is Scar Moot. Guess that means that it is Friendsday.

What you don't speak Leah ease??? Today is Wednesday and tonight is small group. She actually can say both of those just fine but she and Joshua talk about it so much that they've made up silly names. I think Joshua is calling it small suit this week. LOL! They crack me up.

Hannah might have teeth by my birthday and I bet she is crawling in the next few weeks. She is pushing up on her arms alot. Doesn't look like she'll be an army crawler, so no swiffer pj's here this time.

Robert had a promising phone interview with a guy yesterday. Man, I hope he is the one and Robert can be back to just one full time job soon!

We drive to Amish country for milk this week. That means yummy Mrs Yoder's Kitchen for lunch!!! Be still my clogged arteries!

Saturday, May 2, 2009

I'm bored. I should get up and do something productive but instead I'm just sitting here being bored. Normally, I'd read but I'm not in the mood....think that is the first time I've ever said that in my life.
Robert was sick all week. Like in bed and not even fighting my home remedies sick. He's finally doing better today. Hope I don't get it. I'm the only one in the house that hasn't so far.
Hannah is so big. She's saying Dada and Bubba. No Mama or Lele yet. She's sitting up on her own and starting to learn to wave. She's a cutie and a happy baby, especially if Mommy is holding her, which was constant this week. She's also started doing scrunchy face, which I know Mark and Cole remember from a few years back. I have pics to post.
Joshua is growin up so much. He was running around naked tonight waiting to take a shower with Robert and I was just shocked how big and gangily he is now a days. His body is definitly ahead of his brain right now. He randomly falls for no reason whatsoever and I think he has to have a permanent dent in this head from all of the walls he's constantly running into. Goofy boy. He's reading really well. Too well. He sat down and started reading some of my email today. Not ready for that. We can't even spell anything over their heads anymore to adult communicate because he figures out what we are spelling. I guess Robert and I are going to have to learn to text each other or something.
Leah is getting really big too. Her hair is so long and as she will quickly tell you, pretty! She loves all things pretty. Her potty training is pretty much done. She is still in a pull up at night and naps but usually wakes up dry even then. She does have the normal issue every now and then about just deciding to keep playing until the last minute and not quite making it on the potty in time. She's smart too. She's picking up alot just from me teaching Joshua and she gets annoyed when I don't let her do the exact some school work as him.

I'll be glad when the Nascar race is over so we can go to bed. Church tomorrow and lots of cooking. I'm taking freezer meals over to my friend Bonnie that lost her husband a few weeks ago, so I'm trying to get a good selection cooked up for her.

Oh and I need book suggestions. I'm out of reading material. I don't read much fiction. Won't read romance, even "Christian romance". Don't like scary books either.

In order not rant over the stupidity of this swine flu scare....I will do a picture post.

Dad of the year. This is on our zoo trip a few weeks ago. It was our first day of the year over 70 degrees...we were sooooo happy!

Picnic lunch at the zoo.

Tea time with Lele!

Our group shot at the Creation Museum. I love how the Frye girls are hanging on Joshua. Joshua told me the other day that some day, God was going to move Joshua back to Texas so he can marry Alyssa. Pretty funny since we've never talked about marriage except that he can't marry Leah or Hannah. He didn't say we were all moving back, just him. We'll see.

My first loaf of bread from my fresh ground flour. I used hard red wheat, hard white wheat(prairie gold) and spelt. It is a sourdough loaf and tasted good but didn't rise perfectly. I've made a better once since then.

Tuesday, April 28, 2009

Robert is down now too. I hope I don't get sick and if I do that it isn't until he is good and well and able to keep things afloat. I hate having to care for others when I'm sick myself. Ok, hate is a strong word, but you know what I mean. I'd rather just keep plugging along, caring for my fam.

Monday, April 27, 2009

Swine flu....maybe. Who knows? Who cares? My kids have had the exact symptoms for the last week...still coughing. Good thing we use our Young Living oils faithfully. I'm not worried, even though we were in the same town as a confirmed case last week to pick up some resale books.

Our media drives me crazy the way they sensationalize everything!

Random stuff.

Trying to be productive this week. Last week was entirely a nursing week. I was proud that we only ate out once...until I crashed on Friday, but that is another story. Robert has a dinner meeting with their board of directors tonight so I have over time today. We are going to run a bunch of errands and get some much needed purging and donating done. I am going to bake some bread since I won't have to have it in the over right next to the bulb to be warm enough for it to rise. I'm really enjoying baking bread and using my grinder although I haven't gotten to much and the whole process is still intimidating to me. How's that for a really long run on sentence?

Kids are doing better. They are all still coughing now and then. Leah is still sleeping really hot, but that is good to burn those germs off. Hannah only napped a tiny bit yesterday afternoon, so I hope today is a good nap day for her.

If you haven't tried Teeccino, you should. I love it and am sad that I am out right now, waiting for a shipment to come in. You can try their sample pack of all ten flavors for $12. It is a great deal. www.teeccino.com You should do it. So good and good for you, unlike coffee, which isn't. I like the Jave, we both like the Hazelnut and Robert loves the chocolate, go figure. There weren't any of them that I didn't like.

More on my health later...off to enjoy this beautiful weather and be productive. Praying for no headaches this week. We hit 87 yesterday, yippee!!!!! Hannah's feet were uncovered for the first time in her life.

Oh, and Hannah is super long, but the skinniest baby I've ever had. I've also lost weight faster than with my other 2, don't know if there is a connection. She still isn't crawling and has no teeth.

Thursday, April 23, 2009

In the trenches....

Leah is doing better. Fever gone but diarehea here now.
Joshua has a really nasty cough.
Hannah is coughing some now too.
Mommy is bleary eyed but pressing on.
Daddy is I'm sure exhausted since he hasn't slept well either and has 2 back to back audits this week.

Hang on for the ride......

Wednesday, April 22, 2009

We are tired. I was up holding Hannah all night on Sunday night because she was running a high fever. Monday, she was fine but a little tired. Last night, Leah woke up throwing up and running a high fever. Up alot with her, although Robert got up and helped last night too. So tired. Hope it skips Joshua and Robert and I.

We have had a great weekend! I love weekends that are just family fun....of course, it helped that God blessed us with BEAUTIFUL weather on Saturday. I needed a beautiful weather day.

On Saturday, we headed out to the zoo. I packed us a picnic lunch and Robert loaded up the wagon and we got there shortly after opening. It was so fun to be there as a family. They've opened some more of the exhibits from the winter break, including the Australian Adventure, which of course I love. I miss waking up to roo's and wallabee's eating in the yard. The kids and Robert climbed up thru a huge treehouse and then slid down the giant snake slide. It was fun. Robert made the mountain trek up to the cats and gorillas pulling Leah in the wagon and Joshua on his shoulders, crazy! This path is sooooo steep and long. This zoo was horribly designed, but we were just happy to be out in the warm sun. We had our picnic at some tables on the swan lake and it was like it was our private area. No one else was around and we had a lovely little meal including fresh strawberries and Ningxia Red. We headed home about 2 when the zoo was getting really really crowded and got the kids naps. I got my grocery run in for the week, which meant I didn't have to do it today and got a nice nap instead. Last night we got the kids to bed and admired our pink arms from the sun and Robert watched nascar/baseball/basketball while I read and baked my first loaf of sour dough bread using my new grain mill. Lovely evening.

This morning we went to church and Pastor Will preached an awesome message. He did an over view of Romans, that we are going thru right now, and it was just great. One of the best things was when we got home. Joshua sat down at the table and started drawing out the chart that Will had drawn up on the white board while he talked. Joshua kept saying "there is a God and he HAS spoken!" This is why we keep our kids with us in church. Awesome! We came home and had lunch and family nap time, YIPPEE! Now the kids are in bed and we are winding down the evening...preparing for another week. Robert has a crazy busy work week and the kids and I will do our normal routine, although hopefully with a little more schooling than we've been doing lately. Joshua is really wanting to do more school, I guess his lazy Mama should be more diligent, but I figure we've got a lot of school years ahead of us...why rush.

I'll try to get pics of the zoo trip up tomorrow!

Our Trip to the Creation Museum

Last Thursday we all got up with Robert at 5AM and hit the road. Robert headed north to work and we headed south to Cincinnati. The drive up was uneventful. We made the 4 hour drive with only one stop, and that made me hopeful for a smooth trip home too. We pulled up to the Creation Museum about 10:20. Angela and I had been on the phone and so I knew that they were running off some energy waiting for us. We pulled up and I casually stopped the truck and asked Joshua who those people were. He said, calmly, the Frye's...and then hysterically THE FRYE GIRLS! There could have been tears in his eyes just from his voice, but I couldn't see his face all the way in the back of the truck. I told him he could unbuckle and get out. Angela came over and he JUMPED out of the truck and into her arms. It was such a sweet moment for me. I hurt for Joshua that he is so lonely here. It is hard on him and hard on my Mama's heart. I knew that we were going to have a FULL day of friends and fun.

I know that this picture is all blurry and horribly lit but this is how Joshua and Alyssa spent the day. Those two just have some kind of little bond that is so sweet. Joshua loves Amanda too but he and Alyssa just jive with each other.
We came in and immediately saw huge life size dinosaurs, moving. It was fun.

Here is a slide show of some of the rest of the day. Take note of the real and very life like Adam and Eve, in the garden before the apple....naked. We were getting a little nervous as we went into each successive room, especially when we came into the room where they were bathing...were a little worried about what would come next, lol! It was all so amazingly beautiful!

This day made something very clear to me. I've always nodded at good art but I can't say that I have ever really appreciated it. This museum is a gift from God. He had to have specifically created these artist to be able to produce such amazingly beautiful detail on such a large scale. It was stunning. The detail and beauty were just overwhelmingly true. There are families from GCC that I've always known were artists, but I must say that I am so thankful that God created families like the Cole's, Mucha's, Lichnovsky's, Woody's, Watson's and so many more. I could never even conceive of the creations that are just natural to them. Isn't wonderful how God created each of us for His own purposes.

We packed up to head home about 4:30. I had a headache that was getting pretty intense, but had a cup of coffee and hit the road. We hit downtown Cinci right at rush hour and I'm so grateful because I was in intense migraine pain and was pretty certain I was going to puke at any moment. Thankfully, all of the kids were sleeping so I could be in misery alone. I don't know how I made that drive home, except for His grace. We made it. Not near as quicly or smoothly as getting there, but we made it. Hannah was really fussy the second half of the drive and Mommy was too. All of that still didn't remotely dampen how awesome the day was!!! I highly recommend the Creation Museum, especially if the Frye's are there!

Resurrection Day 2009

Tax Day Tea Party, Medina OH

We attended the Tax Day Tea Party in Medina yesterday. I'll start updating our last crazy busy week in pics in a bit.

Tuesday, April 14, 2009

I will post updates soon but this morning I just can't. A friend here lost her 34 year old husband yesterday. He went to the gym and just died. They have three lovely children and she is pregnant with number four. I can't imagine her pain, but know it has to be unbearable because I hurt so bad for her and I never met him. Another friend in Texas lost her husband last week too. This hurts and it is scary. Neil was 4 years younger than Robert. I know we all have a time appointed by God and that these men are now with Him, but it hurts for us here. Bonnie posted that she wishes she just would have touched him more.

We are here and doing great. Enjoying a very special family weekend. I'll get Creation Museum pics and story up next week. It was fabulous and well worth the trip from any where. Absolutely beautiful.

Monday, April 6, 2009

What a wonderful day today. It is funny that I sit here and want to write that right now. My children were quite the challenge today, including a public bar room brawl at the library that left me shocked at their behavior and horribly embarrased that it came out for the first time in public. Nap time was extra challenging with Leah especially and Joshua is just a challenge right now.

But my God is good, all the time. Here are a few ways that He showed me His love and mercy today....in no particular order.

-We only have about a half inch of snow on the ground right now instead of 2 inches that were predicted.
-When the above library incident happened, I didn't loose my temper and kill my children right there in public, or in the bathroom. I calmly asked them both to come and we were leaving....and they did.
-My friend, Cara , got some really awesome news about her boys in Haiti, and I got to be on Facebook chat with her when it happened, which is really amazing because we've never FB chatted before. I mean, this is soooo exciting, you should go check out her news and pray with us.
-I just started my first batch of sourdough.
-In five days, I'll get to make my first batch of homemade bread using my cool new Bosch mixer.
-I've found a source for organic grains and they will even be delivered by their organic foods delivery service. How cool is that?
-I have a really awesome husband that loves me!!

Finally, and this one is the most important!!!!!!!!!! this week I get to celebrate that Jesus Christ, my Lord and Savior died on a cross a horrible and mocking death. THEN, three days later, He ROSE AGAIN!!!!!! He reigns in glory and intercedes on my behalf to the Father. How cool is that. And how awesome that I live in a country where I can freely and openly celebrate!!!
We had a nice weekend. Saturday I got some sewing done, including liners on the kids curtains since the sun is staying up longer than they are supposed to. Sunday we did church and family time. We did get pretty Easter dresses and a little suit for Joshua. Yesterday, Leah and I found a very pretty hat to match her dress. All set for Easter. We get to start our family readings in preparation today. What a blessed week to walk thru each year!

I'm trying to keep a positive attitude this week, but I must say the fact that we are expecting 1-2 inches of snow today and more tomorrow is making that tough. It is a gloomy thing to be sitting in April, leading up to Easter and wondering how much snow we'll get. I need some warm/hot Texas days to cheer me up. The Lord has been merciful to us. Mr Tomek said that they usually get 18 inches of snow in March and this year we just had one inch. Thank you Lord. And we've even had a few days in the 60's. It felt so good to just walk around in jeans and a tshirt in the afternoons. One day, I even ventured outside barefoot. Soon. Right?

Kids are good. I have'nt broken the surprise they'll get this week yet. I did tell them yesterday that we are going on a trip on Thursday. I'm not telling them that the Frye family will be on the other end of that trip. I better warn Angela to tell the girls to brace themselves because Joshua will probably SCREAM and tackle them. And hold their hands all day! :-) I'm excited about seeing a friend too. And I'm pretty excited to see the Creation Museum as well.

We've had a great week and I am tired. We have half a cow in our freezer, yummy!!!! And finally got to have dinner with the Lohnes, although the boys were both working. My kids are worn out. Wed night was a late night with small group and then last night was late with the Lohnes's over and everyone is dragging today. Tonight is a nice quiet and EARLY family night!!!! It is rainy and cool here, but that is ok with me. I wanted a quiet down day today. They've also taken most of the snow out of the forecast for next week, and I like that too!!!! Happy weekend everyone! I've got to get some Easter dress shopping done and I hope to hit up the really huge and awesome nursery here. I need something to be living around here. Although, the grass is starting to green up and some of the trees have a few buds on them. Spring really wants to be here, but from what everyone keeps telling me, we have another month before we are officially done with winter. Crazy!

Wednesday, April 1, 2009

In limbo, I have lots of stuff to get done today and tomorrow but I'm waiting on one major thing to get scheduled before I know when I can do everything. Frustrating. Anyway, tonight we have small group, yea! Tomorrow, I think the pastor's family is coming to dinner. This is our third time to try and get together but things keep coming up for them, I think that is normal for pastor's, in my experience. So maybe this week. We also get our side of beef in this week, who hoo! One more step in my stocking up efforts. AND, I got my grain mill and bread mixer in yesterday. So, I can start grinding my own grain and making our bread soon. This is all really exciting to me. Can't wait to get going.

Kiddo updates.
Joshua- He's so big. He's reading really well and wants to read all the time. BE glad when he is reading totally independently because I think he is going to go nuts. He LOVES Hannah. I mean, LOVES her and I can see why because they are identical twins. It cracks Robert and I up. He's all boy. Loves playing outside. Loves to work. He's happiest when he is doing work with us. He's a good kid. Tests my patients with all of his never ending questions somedays but a good kid.

Leah- SPIT FIRE! This girl is crazy. She's hysterical funny and can crack anyone up but man she is HEAD STRONG. I have no idea where she gets that. Like my Daddy always says, I kept all of mine. She really is a mini me. I just love her.....and wish she were a tad bit easier to raise. lol! She likes Hannah but doesn't dote on her the way Joshua does. She sneaks her loving in when we aren't paying attention or she thinks we aren't. She keeps up with her big brother just fine and no one can convince her that they aren't the same age and size or that he is more advanced than her in anything.

Hannah- She's growing like crazy. She's about 18 pounds now but seems much bigger. Every time we are out people ask how old she is and then ask if she is big. Don't know exactly how they mean that, but all of my babies are big. She seems pretty normal sized to me. She's rolling over but isn't big on rolling all around the room. Not like she ever has to get anything herself anyway. She is starting to sit up unassisted, but hasn't quite perfected it yet. She gives me big big hugs when I pick her up and that makes R jealous. Of course, I don't think he's realized that she is really just trying to get to my hair that she loves to chew on. She babbles and chats all the time and she is a DROOL MONSTER. Seriously. She's really laid back and just tags along for the ride of the Lachney express. She's been a really easy baby and even sleeps thru the night sometimes. That is pretty cool in my book. She'll be 7 months old this week, that's crazy!

Snow on the ground this morning. Should continue light snow this morning and then change over to rain, I think. Our pastor's wife, who also grew up in the South, told me yesterday that they more often than not get snow on Easter. Blech! Snow on Easter. Aren't you supposed to have beautiful backyard picnics with your church family on Easter. Oh well, I'm still going to try and organize a pot luck or something with our new church.

I'm doing better. Need to update on the kiddos, they are doing awesome. So big. We are going to a playdate this morning, unless I chicken out because of the snow. I think the roads should be super clear....right?

Ok, so now that you've gotten to watch the clips below, I'll share this. That guy has been requested to come to the White House to discuss the disturbing nature of his clips. Really.

So, if you didn't believe me that these were worth watching before, check them out now.

In case you haven't seen these....you should.

however, don't mail a tea bag, it won't get thru security. Put one on your rearview mirror and attend a Tea Party on April 15th. More details on those later....

I AM GOING TO HAVE A GOOD DAY TODAY!!!! DO YOU HEAR ME?????? HAVING A GOOD DAY!!!

and she did!

Funk funk go away....come again...um, no don't come again another day.

Way too much computer surfing today, but don't even feel like updating my own blog. blah blah blah

Wednesday, March 25, 2009

I'm here. Better than before, but realing a bit. This last round really did a doosy on my body and my spirit. I keep reminding myself that God has placed me exactly where I am, with these children and my awesome husband. He isn't surprised that my body isn't holding up so hot right now. I don't expect Him to miraculously cure what ails me, although I would be so grateful if He does. He may just have something special to teach me in my path of sanctification here....and for that, I want to long for it. I know looking back I will be grateful for it. I pray to be grateful now.

I know that last weeks episode was triggered by some bad food choices. I had that blizzard, not a normal occurance for me. Then, at small group on Wednesday night, I had a brownie and some mint choco chip ice cream. I'm pretty sure that the artificial colors and preservatives in the two things sent my body reeling. On Thursday, I knew something wasn't right and by Saturday I was in full eruption mode. Aren't our bodies amazing.

I do keep our diets pretty clean, and I'm glad I do. I just need to be much more observant of what I put into my body, especially at times I know that I am weakest, like when I have a baby.

I saw a new chiropractor this morning and got worked over!!! So, I should be on the mend. Pounding the water today because I know I will start really dumping toxins after the massage and adjustments she did on me. Of course, I'm thirsty all the time right now anyway.

In exciting news, we have a babysitter tonight. Two of the Lohnes children (our pastors fam) are coming over to watch J adn L. I am speaking at the ICAN meeting tonight about achieving VBAC!!! I'm really excited. Robert and Hannah are going to come along to watch.

Thanks for all of you support ladies. Your posts and emails mean alot to me. More importantly, your prayers do!

Headache is still here...day three. I hate this.

Sunday, March 22, 2009

Everyone is sleeping or they are supposed to be. I'm pretty sure that Hannah is playing in her crib instaed. Hey, if she'll play herself to sleep, I'm good with that. Robert and the big kids got up and went to church this morning. I had a bad hormonal migraine hit yesterday afternoon and I"m still recovering from that. I knew that I wouldn't be able to tolerate music today and maybe not even sun light, so Hannah and I hung at the house. Robert offered to take her too, which is kind of comical since she's never had a bottle. We haven't even tried with her.

Our other two wouldn't take bottles, no way no how. Ok, Leah did one time. I had a salad with a bunch of bleu cheese on it...it was delicious...to me, not Leah. She went on a nursing strike about about 30 hours and I was panicing that she was weaning early. Our sweet Mrs Woody came over and some how got Leah to take a bottle until she started nursing again. But, she never would take it again. Joshua took a bottle in the NICU but wouldn't for us ever again. So, since we haven't had anyone around that we would trust our baby with anyway, we haven't even tried with Hannah. Who knows, maybe she'd suck it down..... I could use the break.

I really have to figure out some way to get me cleaned up and going again. I'm pretty sure I'm having yeast issues, if not a full blown systemic infection. I have craved sugar soooo bad since having Hannah. This is more worrisome because I've NEVER been a sweet eater. Put a plate of brownies and nachos in front of me and I'll take the salt any day....or used to. Now, it is like I have to have sugar. I know that is making things worse. I need to do a yeast cleanse but Hannah is still too little for me to do any kind of cleansing. So, somehow, I have to come up with the will power to stop the sugar..... I really have to.

Starting about Thursday of this week, I have been so hormonal. Super crabby and down and blah....remember my blah post. Friday was not as blah but more martyrdom of how I never get anything for me, blah blah blah. Saturday when I woke up, I could tell that something was brewing in me. I didn't feel right and I figured something was going on. After Hannah's morning nap, we headed into downtown to hit our food coop store for this quarter and while we were there, I had a full blown migraine hit. When we got home, I popped some homeopathics and took a boiling hot shower and went to bed....being woken up every two hours or so to nurse Hannah, of course. And of course, last night is the only night this week that she didn't sleep thru the night either. Blah.

I'm doing better today. Have that lingering migrainey hang over feeling. You know, the one where you aren't sure if it could come back at any moment. Anyway, I need to start being serious about my health again.

Oh, and to add insult to injury. On Friday, I was trying to find a belt to hold up my pants. I grabbed some out of my belt drawer. I never wear belts, and so I haven't tried these on since I got married, really. Well, of the three I pulled out, not a one of them would go all the way around me. Like, their ends didn't even meet. I was annoyed and disgusted. I didn't expect them to fit great, but I thought they'd at least go around me.

Tortilla Soup

Here is the tortilla soup recipe I start with...of course I play every time.
3 T EVOO
4 corn tortillas, I use more
6 cloves garlic
1 T fresh cilantro, I use the whole head
1 c onion
2 cans tomatoes
1 T cumin powder
2 t chili powder
2 bay leaves
2 cans corn, I use one can and one bag frozen
2 quarts chicken stock, I use one box

Cook some chicken. Sometimes I grill and sometimes I boil, doesn't matter. Saute tortillas, garlic and cilantro, all chopped in oil. In a blender, blend one can of tomatoes with the onion and can of corn until smooth. Add to the tortilla mix and bring to a boil. Add seasonings and other tomatoes and corn and stock. I also add black and sometimes red beans from a can. Bring to a boil and simmer for about 30 minutes.

Here is the part that makes it super yummy. Serve it with crushed up tortilla or corn chips, diced avocados, cheese and sour cream. Then sprinkle on some reserved chopped cilantro. Seriously awesome stuff!

Last time I made it, I also blended in some extra mixed veggies, just for extra nutrients! My kids love this, as do we.
My super awesome friend Kelly has a wonderful and uplifting post on her blog today, and if that is what you are wanting to read today, then check hers out here because that ain't gonna be what you get here today.

Ok, now that half of my reading audience, meaning everyone but my Mom, has moved on....I'm blah today. Just plain old, blucky blah. I can't even blame it on sleep deprivation because Hannah has finally found that she can suck her thumb when she wakes up at night and has therefore slept all night the last two nights...ok, until 5:30 when she is starving, but I"m calling it all night....it is Robert's all night after all.
Our pastor and family were supposed to come over for dinner tonight and that has been our ra-ra motivation around here the last two weeks and has actually gotten alot accomplished, but Pastor Will had to be gone for a few days, so that is rescheduled for next week. And so I have no reason to unblah today.
In order not to feel like too much of loser, I have still fed my children and myself(that being the big stretch here since I'm sick of eating) two meals today. I have given baby all needed naps and have even done reading with Joshua and read to the older two. Check....good Mommy duties.
Since I got those off my list, I went blog surfing...and since I'm a foodie or at least want to pretend to be, I surfed food blogs....

and in case you are wondering this is not the smartest place to surf when you are already blah....and THIS is even worse because I already know that I love her recipes and I want her ranch (the real one, not the dressing, although her recipe for that is good too). So in my best judgement of all time, I think I am going to load the kids up for a drive........to Dairy Queen for a blizzard. TAKE THAT BLAHS! ICE CREAM AND CHOCOLATE!!! OH YEAH!
